Gopher Resource in Tampa

Since acquiring the Tampa facility in 2006, Gopher Resource has made significant investments in the region, including creating an estimated 300 green jobs, adding tens of millions of dollars in local spending, and investing an estimated $230 million in our local operations, of which $140 million was focused on protecting the health and safety of our employees and environmental protection. Our Tampa employees have kept millions of lead batteries from being exposed to our environment and communities by keeping them out of landfills.

About This Facility

  • The Tampa facility employs approximately 300 people in well-paying, local jobs.
  • Since Gopher Resource’s acquisition of the site in 2006, we have invested more than $230 million to modernize the Tampa facility, which includes installing state-of-the art pollution control and instituting robust health and safety measures.
  • As a result, the ambient air lead levels around the Tampa facility have been and remain within the standards set by the federal government to protect public health.
  • Gopher Resource has also worked with Hillsborough County Environmental Protection Commission to install multiple layers of high-tech air quality monitoring systems surrounding the plant.
